Amazon BSR Sales Calculator

Turn a Best Sellers Rank into estimated daily and monthly sales — shown as an honest range with a confidence level, for Books and Kindle across four marketplaces.

From the “Product details” section of any Amazon book page.

Free account, takes 30 seconds — you'll come right back here.

Enter a rank to see estimated daily and monthly sales — always as a range, because BSR only supports honest ranges.

How the estimate works

Amazon never publishes how rank maps to sales, so every estimate — anyone's — is a model. Ours is built from dated, publicly observed rank-to-sales data for each marketplace and store, and it gives you three things: a likely daily figure, the range it could reasonably fall in, and a monthly run-rate.

Sales fall off steeply at the top of the store and flatten into a long tail, so the same move in rank means very different things at #500 and at #500,000. Read the estimate with that in mind: near the top, a small change in rank is a real change in sales; deep in the catalog, rank moves a lot on very few sales.

The range gets wider the deeper into the catalog you go, because observations there genuinely scatter more. That range and the confidence badge are the model being honest about what it knows, not a disclaimer bolted on afterwards. Public data outside the US store is sparser, which is exactly why ranges for other marketplaces are wider.

The data behind the estimate was last verified in July 2026 — the date is also shown on every estimate, so you never have to wonder how fresh the numbers are.

Frequently asked questions

What is Amazon Best Sellers Rank (BSR)?

BSR is the sales ranking Amazon assigns every product within a store — #1 is the store's current best seller. For books you'll find it in the “Product details” section of the listing, e.g. “Best Sellers Rank: #12,345 in Books”. It updates roughly hourly and reflects recent sales with a decaying memory of older ones.

Why does this calculator show a range instead of one number?

Because a single number would be false precision. Amazon doesn't publish rank-to-sales data — every estimator, including this one, works from community-observed data points. Two books at the same rank can genuinely differ in daily sales, and the uncertainty grows the deeper into the catalog you go. We show the honest likely range and a confidence badge instead of pretending otherwise.

How is the estimate calculated?

Each marketplace and store has its own estimate, built from dated, publicly observed rank-to-sales data. Your rank is placed against that data, and the likely range around it widens wherever observations are sparse. “How the estimate works” above the FAQ explains how to read the result.

Why do I need to sign in to get an estimate?

The estimate data is actively maintained, and a free sign-in with fair-use limits is how we keep the tool fast for authors rather than bots. Your inputs aren't stored with your account.

What do the confidence levels mean?

High means your rank sits where observations are plentiful (roughly the top of the store), so the range is tight. Medium means directional — good for comparing niches, not for forecasting revenue. Low means deep-catalog territory where data is sparse; treat the numbers as an order of magnitude.

Is a Books rank comparable to a Kindle Store rank?

No — they're separate stores with separate sales patterns. A #10,000 rank in Books (print) implies different daily sales than #10,000 in the Kindle Store. Always match the store to the rank you copied: “#N in Books” → Books, “#N in Kindle Store” → Kindle.

How do daily and monthly figures relate?

Monthly is daily × 30.4 (the average month length). It assumes the book keeps its current rank all month — real sales fluctuate, so treat monthly numbers as a run-rate, not a forecast.

How current is the data behind the estimate?

Each estimate shows the date its data was last verified, and the same date is stated in the “How the estimate works” section. When Amazon's rank behavior shifts, we re-verify the data and update that date.
