Word lists that make good pages
- Stick to one theme a page. Animals, kitchen words, holidays. The theme is the solver’s first clue, and a page title that names it makes the puzzle fairer.
- Mix the lengths. A few four- and five-letter words give a solver an easy start; seven- and eight-letter words are the satisfying finish.
- Match the reader. Words a child can read aloud for a children’s book, harder vocabulary for adults. Difficulty comes from the words as much as from the scramble.
From one page to a book you can publish
One page is not a book. KDP requires at least 24 pages for a paperback, and a word scramble book usually runs 50 pages or more, each one numbered, with every answer gathered in a section at the back. Building that a page at a time means writing dozens of word lists, renumbering every page and rebuilding the answers by hand.

Is this word scramble generator really free?
Yes, and it needs no account. Every visitor gets a set number of free puzzles per day, shared by all the free puzzle makers and shown as a counter next to the Generate button. The PDF has no watermark and no attribution line.
Can I sell a word scramble I make here on Amazon KDP?
Yes. The word list is yours and so is the page, with no licence to attribute and no royalty. A single page is not a book, though: KDP requires at least 24 pages for a paperback.
Why was one of my words left out?
Because its letters also spell another word. GARDEN scrambles to the same letters as DANGER, so a solver who writes DANGER has solved it correctly and still gets it marked wrong. The maker sets those words aside and names them under the preview rather than print a puzzle with two right answers.
What do the difficulty levels change?
How much of each word survives the scramble. Easy lets short pieces of the word stay together, so it is recognisable, which suits early readers. Medium never leaves three letters of the word in a row. Hard never leaves two neighbouring letters side by side.
How many words fit on a page?
Two to sixteen. Sixteen fills a 6×9 page with room to write each answer. Words need at least three letters, since a two-letter word has only one other arrangement.
What does the first-letter hint do?
It prints the first letter of each answer for the solver. That makes the page easier for younger readers and is a good way to keep a whole book at one level.
Does it make an answer key?
Yes. Press Answer key above the preview to see every answer. It rides along in both downloads, so the PDF is two pages and the ZIP holds two PNGs, and it costs nothing extra.
Can I make a whole word scramble book here?
Not on this page. It makes one page at a time from words you supply.
