Three rules for every box, and one call left to you
A keyword box is an exact search string. Trim one to fit and you have aimed it at a search nobody chose, so a phrase that breaks one of these rules is set aside and replaced, never shortened:
- Over the byte budget. 50 bytes is the most KDP's form accepts in a box. The count beside each box is the same figure the check uses, so the two cannot disagree.
- Nothing new beyond your title. A box made only of words your title or subtitle already holds adds nothing Amazon was not already matching.
- Ruled out by KDP's keyword guidance. Promotional claims, words like “best” or “new”, and the names of Amazon programs are set aside with the reason shown (verified 4 August 2026).
The call left to you is a match against a brand or a live trademark record. The generator sets such a phrase aside and says what it matched; whether you have the right to use it is your decision, and “Allow again” puts it back.
What Amazon's suggestions add
Your own title and description say what the book is. Amazon's search box says how shoppers phrase the search. The generator asks it about the phrases closest to deciding a box, and each box shows what came back: suggested and where in the list, suggested only as part of longer searches, or not suggested at all. A phrase that turns up in several suggestion lists says so too.
The first boxes appear at once from your own text; boxes that change once Amazon has answered are marked, and Undo puts the earlier phrase back.
What we will not tell you
We will not put a search-volume number beside a box. Amazon publishes none, and a confident figure with nothing behind it is worse than no figure — you would act on it. Every number here is something observed: a byte count, a place in a suggestion list, how many lists a phrase appeared in, the date we asked.

Frequently asked questions
Is it free, and do I need an account?
It is free and needs no account. Generating, pinning, editing, copying and downloading the boxes cost nothing. Checking new phrases against Amazon's search suggestions has a daily allowance, shown on the page before you reach it, and a free account raises it. A phrase checked in the last few weeks is answered without using your allowance.
Where does the 50-byte limit come from?
It is the most KDP's keyword form accepts in one box — 50 bytes is accepted and 51 is not. Amazon does not publish the number, so this is what the form itself takes rather than a rule from a help page. Bytes rather than characters matters: an ordinary English letter is one byte, but an accented letter is two, so "café" is five bytes, not four.
What does “Amazon suggests this · #3” mean?
When you type a phrase into Amazon's search box, Amazon suggests searches. The label means the phrase itself appeared in that list, third. “Amazon suggests longer searches” means Amazon suggested phrases that start with it but not the phrase alone; “Amazon doesn't suggest this” means the list came back empty. These are what Amazon showed, with the date we asked — not a search volume, which Amazon does not publish.
What does “set aside” mean?
Every phrase the generator left out is listed with the one reason it was left out: it repeats words already in your title, it is too long for a box, it is a promotional claim or an Amazon program name KDP's keyword guidance rules out, it matches a brand or a live trademark record on our list, and so on. A match is something we found, not a legal finding — you decide whether it applies to your book, and anything you excluded yourself can be allowed again.
Should a box repeat words from my title?
A box made only of words already in your title or subtitle buys nothing, because Amazon already matches those fields — so those are set aside. A box that adds new words next to a title word is fine. When two choices add the same new words, the generator takes the one that repeats fewer words across the seven boxes.
Can I change the boxes?
Yes, as much as you like, for free. Pin a box to keep it, exclude one to replace it, move boxes up or down, or edit a phrase in place and watch its byte count. The boxes below a change are chosen again around it. Copying a box pins it, so the phrase you pasted into KDP stays put.
Which Amazon stores does it work for?
Seven Amazon stores: Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.es, Amazon.it and Amazon.com.br. Each store's listing is judged by word lists in its own language. On the first three the generator can also read a live product page by its ASIN; on the other four it builds the boxes from your description and Amazon's own search suggestions. Amazon.co.jp is not offered yet.
Do I need AI to write my keywords?
No. This page builds the boxes from your own book and from Amazon's suggestions, without a model. If you want phrases written for you as well, the Listing Studio can ask a model for candidates and then packs them with the same rules this page uses.
Is there an API?
Yes.
