Acceptable Use Policy

A short list of things that would get an account suspended, and what happens if one comes up.

This policy forms part of the Terms of Service. It applies to everything you upload to SmartKDP, create with it, and do on it.

The spirit of it is simple: build and publish your books, and do not use our tools to harm anyone or to degrade the service for other customers.

Content you may not upload or create

  • Content you do not hold the rights to — images, fonts, word lists, artwork, or text that belongs to someone else. This is the most common problem in practice: a font or clipart licence that does not permit commercial use or embedding in a distributed PDF.
  • Content that infringes a trademark, or that is designed to pass off as another publisher's brand or series.
  • Sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualises minors. This results in immediate termination and a report to the relevant authorities.
  • Content that incites violence, or that harasses or promotes hatred against people on the basis of a protected characteristic.
  • Content that is unlawful where it is published, or that promotes serious unlawful activity.
  • Malware, or content engineered to compromise a reader's device.
  • Deliberate impersonation of a real person, or fabricated material presented as a genuine record or endorsement.

Conduct you may not engage in

  • Circumventing plan quotas or entitlement checks, including by creating multiple accounts to get repeated free allowances.
  • Sharing one account among several people to avoid paying for seats. Accounts are for one person.
  • Reselling or redistributing SmartKDP's generation capability as a competing service — publishing the books you make is exactly what the tool is for; standing up a puzzle-generation service on top of your account is not.
  • Automated or scripted access beyond any published API, scraping the application, or load that degrades the service for others.
  • Probing, scanning, or attempting to breach our systems or another customer's data. If you are a security researcher, we would like to hear from you — see our Security page for how to report something responsibly.
  • Reverse-engineering the service except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded.
  • Uploading personal data about other people that you have no lawful basis to process.

Fair use of quotas

Plans include quotas for generations, AI calls, projects, storage, and exports. Where something is described as unlimited, it means unlimited ordinary use by one person — not automated bulk use at a scale that affects other customers.

If your usage is genuinely unusual because your publishing business is unusual, talk to us at support@smartkdp.com. We would much rather find you the right plan than throttle you without warning.

AI-assisted features

Where the service generates text or ideas for you:

  • You are responsible for reviewing output before you publish it.
  • You may not use output to breach Amazon's or any other marketplace's content policies.
  • You may not use the features to mass-produce content designed to spam a marketplace.
  • Where a marketplace requires disclosure of AI involvement, making that disclosure is your responsibility.

Reporting a problem

To report content that breaches this policy, email support@smartkdp.com with enough detail for us to find it. For copyright specifically, use the process on our DMCA page, which has its own legal requirements.

How we enforce

We aim to be proportionate. For most issues the sequence is: we contact you, explain the problem, and give you a chance to fix it. Persistent or unresolved breaches lead to feature restriction or suspension.

For serious matters — child sexual abuse material, credible threats, active attacks on our systems, or payment fraud — we suspend immediately without notice, and report to law enforcement where required.

If we terminate your account for a breach, refunds are governed by the Refund Policy. If you think we got it wrong, email support@smartkdp.com and we will look at it again; we do make mistakes and we would rather fix one than defend it.
