Most free maze makers are built for a teacher printing one handout on Friday afternoon, or a player who wants one grid this afternoon. A KDP interior is a different job: Amazon prints it at 300 DPI, binds it with a gutter, and rejects it if the lines are too faint or the path runs into the margin.
- Vector PDF, not a screenshot. Walls are real line geometry. Print it at any size and they stay sharp.
- No watermark, no attribution line. A watermark on a page you intend to sell makes the tool useless for its actual purpose.
- Exactly one path. The open walls form a spanning tree, so the answer is a theorem, not a search. The solution sheet traces the only simple path from entrance to exit.
- The same rendering engine as the paid editor. The page you download comes out of the identical layout and rendering code that produces a full Book Studio interior.
How to use it
- Pick a shape. Rectangle is the book default. The silhouettes (heart, star, and the rest) cut the board first, then carve a maze in what remains.
- Set width and height. Anywhere from 5 to 30 cells. A wide, short board is a legitimate large-print format; a 20×20 square is the usual adult maze.
- Pick a difficulty. Easy is a short path with shallow dead ends. Hard is long corridors where a wrong turn costs. See the table below.
- Generate, then generate again. A second press gives a different unique maze at the same settings.
- Check the solution. The tab above the preview traces the unique path. It costs nothing extra.
- Download it. A two-page PDF, or a ZIP of both sheets as 300 DPI PNGs.
Choosing a size, shape and difficulty
Size is the lever that decides how long the maze takes. Difficulty decides what a wrong turn costs. Shape is the one that sells the book — a heart maze on the cover of a Valentine title is doing work a rectangle cannot.

Two rules worth carrying into any book. First, keep cell size readable after KDP’s margins — a 30-column maze on 6×9 still clears a pencil, and this tool will not let you go wider. Second, freeze the difficulty mix before you write the cover: “100 hard mazes” is a contract, and a Medium puzzle in a Hard book is a review.
From one page to a book you can publish
One maze page is not a book. KDP requires a minimum of 24 pages for a paperback, and a maze book that sells generally runs 80–120 pages with a solutions section, a title page, and consistent formatting throughout.

Is this maze generator really free?
Yes, and it needs no account. Every visitor gets a set number of puzzles per day, shown as a counter next to the Generate button so you always know where you stand. The PDF you download has no watermark and no attribution line — it is yours to sell.
Can I use these mazes in a book I sell on Amazon KDP?
Yes. The mazes this tool generates are yours to publish and sell, including on Amazon KDP. There is no licence to attribute and no royalty. A single page is not a book, though: KDP requires a minimum of 24 pages for a paperback.
What size is the PDF, and is it KDP-ready?
Two pages — the maze and its solution path — at 6×9 inches, the most common puzzle-book trim. Walls are drawn at a weight that survives print, and the pages carry proper margins. Two pages is a proof or a lead magnet, not a book.
Is there only one way through?
Yes. Every maze is a spanning tree: between the entrance and the exit there is exactly one simple path. The solution sheet traces that path. We do not punch extra loops (braiding), because a maze with many solutions is an answer key you cannot trust.
What do the difficulty levels actually change?
Two structural choices, not a label after the fact. Easy carves with Kruskal and puts the exits in the centre — the shortest path, shallow dead ends. Medium keeps Kruskal but uses the longest pair of exits. Hard switches to a recursive backtracker and the longest exits: long committed corridors, and a wrong turn that costs.
What do the shapes do?
They cut the rectangular board to a silhouette — circle, diamond, heart, star, triangle, or cross — then carve a maze only in the cells that remain. Rectangle is the whole board, and it is the one that prints most cleanly in a book. Decorative shapes suit children's and seasonal titles; a thin silhouette on a small board does not leave much maze.
Does it generate a solution?
Yes. Press Solution above the preview and you get the unique path drawn in. It rides along in both downloads, so the PDF is two pages and the ZIP holds two PNGs. It costs you nothing extra: the daily counter is per maze, not per render.
Can I make 50 different mazes at once?
Not here — this tool is one page at a time by design. Bulk generation of large unique maze sets, with duplicate checking across the whole set, is the paid product.
Do you keep my mazes?
No. Nothing about a generated maze is stored — no project, no database row, no file. The page is rendered and sent straight back to you.
