Why put a QR code in a book

A QR code on the back cover or a final interior page turns a physical book into a bridge to something digital — asking for a review, pointing to an author's other books or newsletter, or (for puzzle and activity books) linking a hosted solutions page instead of printing pages of answer keys.

Will this QR code still scan once it's printed small?

Yes, as long as you keep the quiet zone (the blank margin) intact and print at the resolution shown — a 1" code at 300 DPI is plenty for most phone cameras from a normal reading distance. Higher error correction levels (Quartile or High) add extra redundancy, which helps if the code will be printed small or might get creased.

PNG or SVG — which should I use?

Use SVG if your cover or interior layout tool (InDesign, Affinity, Canva) supports vector imports — it stays perfectly crisp at any size. Use PNG if your tool only accepts raster images; this generator embeds the print DPI directly in the file so layout tools size it correctly by default.

What's a good ASIN-based review link?

The Review link preset builds a direct "leave a review" deep link to your book's Amazon product page from its ASIN, which you can find on your KDP Bookshelf or in the book's product URL. It's the most common way authors ask readers for reviews on a physical page, since typing a full Amazon URL by hand is painful.

Can I use a QR code to link to a puzzle book's answer key?

Yes — the "Scan for solutions" preset is built for exactly that: point it at a hosted page with your puzzle book's solutions, and print it on the last page or back cover so readers don't have to flip to a printed answer section.

Does a colored QR code scan as reliably as a black one?

Generally yes, as long as there's strong contrast between the foreground and background colors — avoid similar-brightness colors (e.g. light gray on white) since that's what actually breaks scanning, not color itself.

Do I need an account to use this?
